notes on my original shape: I wanted to make something fairly complex with multiple interlocking lines, the basic design started with a square on it's side, spikes a "N" shape was incorporated into this square with a circle encasing this "N" shape finally I wanted to add some sort of spikes to the shape, I found by accident during coding(got some coordinates mixed up) that these spikes were far more interesting if they went through the square shape from the opposite side rather then extending out from the side that they are extending into
Once I had my shape complete, which I felt quite pleased about I went about exploring transformations, starting with a simple squashing of the shape which although it was nice I didn't feel like it was terribly effective, I also explored Stroke-width but I still felt like it was just a tad too simple I then started moving around separate points and sub-shapes withing my construction, that is when I felt things started to get interesting, new shapes would appear and disapear in the transformations I did 3 of my final explorations in this way.
I then felt like something else had to be done, I made all the points expand from a central point, this was different in that it is the only exploration in which the lines detach from each other. I remembered that we had talked about movement as a transformation but to me movement was simply too... boring. so I thought rather then movement I could try displaced duplication, creating multiple overlaying versions of my shape this idea came from looking at the movement code and decided to remove the redrawing of the background I was fairly pleased with the result
here is my submission of my shapes
First is the duplication
the lines are thicker at the start and get thinner to reinforce the feeling of Distance increasing
And then this one in which the shape at the end is almost simpler, I particularly like the small square formed at the centre in the second to last iteration
and last but not least I quite like the end of this iteration
Here is the basic code for my program
http://pastebin.com/eEKVU1ga
it is written to automatically generate 100 iterations and save every 7th one
